The symbol of prosperity
As per usual, autumn brings a showcase of harvest symbols to dress home interiors. Some use apples to invite sweetness, while others may use nuts to encourage wisdom. Within the walls of my home, I use sheaves of wheat because it suggests prosperity.
Wheat is often associated with Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest. In antiquity, she was believed to have commanded the earth’s fertility and is often depicted with a crown of sheaves.
